Daisy Sepulveda | Quinceañera

I don’t usually shoot Quinceañeras, but Daisy and I have a history.

Her mother Rebecca is my cousin. Fifteen years ago when Rebecca was ready to have Daisy we stopped by my place to get the camcorder. I jumped up the 12 foot wall since I was in a rush. Once I got the camcorder I handed it down to one of my other cousins and jumped down the wall without thinking… My left foot landed on a tree stump and twisted. It was a good thing we were going straight to the emergency room because I couldn’t have possibly walked around while we were waiting for Daisy’s arrival. An extra wheelchair was my best friend that day.

Back to present day. Daisy, Rebecca and Hector… Congrats on this step in your lives and it’s an honor to have another woman in the family.

I don’t think there was a dry eye during this dance (my eyes included).

The waltz was not a typical dance but rather a carefully choreographed number from the Iron & Wine song “Flightless Bird, American Mouth.”

There was a second dance with swing music. I loved how the party was all dressed in nautical-style attire to go with the sailor theme.

It was fun capturing such a great moment in Daisy’s life. Thank guys.

Necessary Baggage

October 28th, 2010

It feels great to say that I have a great group of friends. If I ever feel confused, lost, excited or any other emotion I know that I  can count on my friends to listen and support me. One of my best friends is Carlos Martinez-Cervantes. He is a special breed. He’s a one of […]

It feels great to say that I have a great group of friends. If I ever feel confused, lost, excited or any other emotion I know that I  can count on my friends to listen and support me.

One of my best friends is Carlos Martinez-Cervantes. He is a special breed. He’s a one of a kind guy that always gives and never expects anything in return. A caring heart is one of the best traits a person can have and his heart is filled with the kind of caring that very few possess. Carlos has always been into fashion and has wanted to create his own line of men’s wear. I’ve known him for years and am amazed to see his vision come true. He is the owner of Necessary Baggage, which is “Tailored Men’s Loungewear” for gentlemen. Follow on twitter and be a fan on facebook for info, inspiration, updates and the occasional sale.

Carlos invited me to his studio in the Fashion District in Los Angeles to take some pictures for his upcoming blog. Here are some behind the scenes shots…

This is one cool sewing machine:

I had no idea I could still do this:

What could I say, I’m a jumper. So is Carlos!

It was fun spending the day at you studio Carlos! Can’t wait to see what you come up with on your blog.

Honey and Matthew

We started off feeding the parking meters to the max to ensure we maximized our time together. In the end I had to feed the meters so we could continue our adventure. I think the two of them not only made my job easy – they made it fun!
